Top tips for your dental health

  • Brush your teeth for 2 minutes before bed and at least at one other time in the day
  • If you have been advised to, use Easypicks or Tepe brushes to clean between your teeth at least once a day
  • Reduce the amount of sugar you eat (including in drinks): ideally keep sugar just to meal times
  • Use a good quality toothpaste with at least 1450ppm of fluoride. (Locally, this may not apply to young children living in Alsager where the water is fluoridated- talk to your dentist first.)
  • When finished, spit the excess out but don’t rinse your mouth. It is good for the fluoride to stay on your teeth.
  • If you want to use a mouthwash then don’t use it at the same time as brushing your teeth… it washes all the fluoride away!
  • See your dentist regularly
  • Help your child clean their teeth to the age of 8 years
