Dental Hygienist- Therapist

BSc Oral Health Science 2017

Charlotte joined us in 2018. She gained a degree in Oral Health Science from Manchester University with honours. She is registered with the General Dental Council (No. 271012) and is also jointly qualified as a dental hygienist and a dental therapist.

What is a Dental Hygienist-Therapist?

This joint qualification allows the dental professional, when asked by the dentist, to treat periodontal (gum) disease and do all the treatments allowed by a hygienist including using local anaesthetics. It also allows them to fill teeth on adults and children and also to remove children’s teeth and carry out many other treatments that previously were only allowed to be carried out by dentists.
